Boston, Massachusetts – March 4, 2022 –NOVA is a new, Massachusetts project-based women’s choral ensemble, led by conductor Jennifer Kane, that uses innovative choral experiences to raise awareness of issues that impact both women and the community. Their recent project was a competition by composers to present an original women’s choral piece that would be performed and recorded. The response to the call for scores was significant and four composers were selected. Carol Koffinke’s song, “The Gift to Sing” utilizing a poem by James Weldon Johnson was selected as one of their four pieces. James Weldon Johnson was a black poet who lived in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The song is arranged for SSAA. The rehearsal and recording will take place at 10:00 am March 19, 2022, at the Grace Episcopal Church in Newton, MA
