BC High to Perform Carol Koffinke’s “Romance”

BC High Commissions Carol Koffinke for a new choral work

Boston, Massachusetts – February 28, 2026—BC High School has commissioned local composer Carol Koffinke to compose a piece for men’s choir utilizing the poem by Edgar Allen Poe called “Romance”. This piece, for four-part men’s chorus, will be performed by the Men’s Concert Choir at their Spring Concert on May 3, 2026. It will be conducted by esteemed Director, Dr. Marina Rozenberg.  

Unlike many poems by Edgar Allen Poe, “Romance” explores the complex experience of romantic attraction, and, while still touching on the disappointing aspect, offers hope and longing. Ms. Koffinke composed the piece in an impressionistic style which she felt best suited the form of the poem.
